What should you eat then?
Fish, fish and fish once again
They are perfect source of omega-3 fatty acids which are able to lower "bad" cholesterol and brings dozens of health benefits. If you choose fish, opt for trout and salmon as they contain the highest amount of omega-3 fatty acids. Sea fish are better than those farm-raised, so if you can, buy sea fish.
Plants
Omega-3 acids can be found in foods other than fish, you can find them in algae, flaxseed, chia and walnuts. According to Hannia Campos, Ph.D. six to ten walnuts is a half a doze of protection provided by these good fats.
Red wine
Red wine is beneficial for your heart as it contains flavonoids. These are antioxidants which protect the heart, the moment your body is deprived of antioxidants free radicals damage the body cells and lead to the increase in LDL-cholesterol oxidation. As a result, more plaque is formed on the arteries. If you don't want to drink wine you will find flavonoids in chocolate, tomatoes, broccoli and all colorful vegetables. The more fresh produce you eat, the more flavonoids you have.
